Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie will be hosting the artists from the event\u2019s 13th edition on the occasion of Rencontres on Tour, from August 17 to 21, 2022. This unique event, which brings the public and artists together, offers a series of encounters on the subject of creation \u2013 open-air screenings, guided exhibit tours, discussions, and so on \u2013 in different locations between Carleton-sur-Mer and Petite-Vall\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Carleton-sur-Mer and Maria, Wednesday and Thursday, August 17 and 18, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rencontres is pleased to be welcoming photographer Gabor Szilasi<\/strong> and director Joannie Lafreni\u00e8re<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec) for the screening of the much-anticipated film Gabor<\/em>, which will be held at Parc des Horizons (or at Quai des arts, in case of rain), in Carleton-sur-Mer on Wednesday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m. In the form of a dialogue between the Hungarian-born photographer and the director, the film paints an affectionate, colorful portrait of this humanist artist, who has spent the last 60 years documenting \u201cthe eloquence of the everyday\u201d in his adopted land of Qu\u00e9bec. Gabor Szilasi, who has taken part in a number of past editions of Rencontres, received the title of Compagnon des arts et des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch of Rencontres on Tour will take place on Thursday, August 18, starting at 4 p.m., at Quai des arts in Carleton-sur-Mer, with the artists on hand. The public is invited to attend the guided visit of the exhibits The Books of Experience <\/em>and Resonant Pages<\/em>, dedicated to the photobook, in the presence of curator Louis Perreault<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec). Books by guest artists at the 2022 Rencontres will also be on display. This will be followed by a guided visit of the exhibition by Fiona Annis<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), The Stars Are Dead But Their Light Lives On<\/em>, at the Vaste et Vague artist center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 7:30 p.m. the Japanese photographer Eiji Ohashi,<\/strong> who is presenting Roadside Lights<\/em> at Parc du Vieux-Quai in Maria, will be in attendance with a translator for a guided tour of his exhibition. The same spot, at 8 p.m., will host outdoor screenings and presentations of Eiji Ohashi and the following artists: Alain Lefort<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who is presenting Horizon (alt.14m)<\/em> and Murmurs<\/em> at Matapedia; curator Michel-Hardy Vall\u00e9e<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who is exhibiting John Max: The Cast Image<\/em> at the Battle of the Restigouche National Historical Site in Pointe-\u00e0-la-Croix; and Aislinn Leggett<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who is presenting What you see will not be here tomorrow<\/em>at Miguasha National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Carleton-sur-Mer, Bonaventure and New Richmond, Friday, August 19, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the day on Friday, August 19, the public is invited to follow Rencontres on Tour for guided exhibit tours in the presence of the artists. On the program at 11 a.m.: a visit to Liquid Flowers, Specimens and Other Refuges<\/em>by Gaspesian artist M\u00e9lissa Longpr\u00e9<\/strong> at Parc des Horizons in Carleton-sur-Mer. At 1 p.m.: a visit to The Atlantic Wall <\/em>by Julie Hasco\u00ebt<\/strong> (France) in room 36 at Auberge des Caps in Carleton-sur-Mer, which is hosting this exhibit. At 3 p.m.: a visit to In Your Footsteps<\/em> by Victorine Alisse<\/strong> (France) near the Bonaventure tourist information center. And at 5 p.m.: a visit to Kochan<\/em> by Alessandra Cal\u00f2<\/strong> (Italy) at Taylor\u2019s Point Park in New Richmond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same location, at 8 p.m. in the Camp \u00e0 Jos, there will be screenings and presentations by Alessandra Cal\u00f2, Victorine Alisse and Laurence Hervieux-Gosselin <\/strong>(Qu\u00e9bec), who is exhibiting Fly-On-the-Wall<\/em> in Pasp\u00e9biac, and Ewa Monika Zebrowski<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who is presenting A Fragile Landscape<\/em> in Chandler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Pasp\u00e9biac, Chandler, Perc\u00e9 and Gasp\u00e9, Saturday, August 20, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All day on Saturday, August 20, the public is invited to take part in guided tours of exhibits and to the unveiling of a digital work in the presence of the artists. On the program at 10 a.m.: a visit to Fly-On-the-Wall<\/em> by Laurence Hervieux-Gosselin on the boardwalk at Pasp\u00e9biac. At 11 a.m., the unveiling of the digital work Beaches <\/em>by Sven<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec) at Centre culturel de Pasp\u00e9biac. Guided exhibit tours will then continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the program at 2 p.m.: a visit of the exhibition A Fragile Landscape<\/em> by Ewa Monika Zebrowski near Cantine du Chenail in Chandler. That will be followed, at 3:30 p.m., by a visit of the exhibits Other Fables<\/em> by \u00c9liane Excoffier<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec) and an unfinished portrait (score for two voices)<\/em>by Sophie Jodoin<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec) in the Charles-Robin historical sector at \u00cele-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Perc\u00e9<\/a> National Park in Perc\u00e9. The same spot at 4 p.m. will host, in the S\u00e9paq La Saline building, screenings and presentations by \u00c9liane Excoffier and Sophie Jodoin as well as by Vanessa Winship<\/strong> (United Kingdom), who is presenting Seeing the Light of Day<\/em> in Gasp\u00e9; Alphiya Joncas<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who is presenting Impermanence<\/em> in Petite-Vall\u00e9e; and Michel Huneault<\/strong> (Qu\u00e9bec), who will be exhibiting Peninsula <\/em>at Mus\u00e9e de la Gasp\u00e9sie, in Gasp\u00e9, beginning October 22, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, at 6:15 p.m., the public is invited to a guided visit of the exhibit by Vanessa Winship near the Horacio LeBouthillier house (west of the other Birthplace of Canada buildings), in Gasp\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
